Friendly Tree "Pruning"

We Westerners have this crazy, wild idea that the things growing in our yard belong to us. Like, say- trees- for instance. We really think, for some reason, that they are ours.

WELCOME TO INDIA!!!

Dad is done for a conference for a week and mom and I went out this morning. We were gone until about 2:00 and when we came back a surprise awaited us.

In our front yard, we have 4 trees that shade the north side of our house.

Today we came back and the trees were still there, but only just. The people from the subdivision had taken the liberty of "pruning" our trees for us. By "pruning" I mean slash and yank. The tree branches were in spinters and totally torn apart.

The best part is that they did nothing with the HUGE branches they chopped down. They are laying in the street, and on our gate. I am not just talking about sticks with leaves on them. I am talking about a 6 ft. pile of huge tree branches in front of our house.

I asked the lady next door what was going on and she said it is a "service" of the subdivision. Right along with the water (which we don't get much of), the power (which was off all day) and garbage (which they collect at 5:30 am.) I asked her what we were supposed to do with the branches in our yard/driveway/street. She said "The poor people come and pick the branches up and make firewood. It may take a while, but they eventually take it all away."

I was very proud of myself for not loosing it on her. I just smiled and went back inside.

AHAHAHHAHAHHAHHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was one of those I-don't-like-India days. So, I took a nap.

Tomorrow I will get my exercise hauling branches!!!

Strange enough, my brother just got a job in Iowa and will be moving actually to Rochester, MN this next week. I guess all the cool people are moving up north! :)
