I decided on Monday (my day off) to make bread. I have a cook book from an Afrikaans friend with a great recipe for wheat bread- so off we went. I was quite ambitious that day and so I decided to double the recipe and just freeze what bread I didn't need right away.
So, I got out my big bowl. When I say "big bowl" I mean the kind that doesn't-fit-into-the-cabinet big. So, this bowl is full of flour, yeast, sugar, honey and all the rest. I kneaded the dough in 2 batches and set it on the stove to raise while I baked cookies. As it was raising, I saw just how big a batch of bread I really had- it was HUGE!!! So, I punched it down put it in pans and baked 6 big loaves of bread! It was wheat bread and so rather dense. . . okay it was like a brick.
My other problem was that I didn't really taste the dough before I baked the bread, so I took the beautifully shaped loaves out of the oven, sliced it and took a bite . . . there was defiantly something missing. Then, it hit me - SALT !!!! I forgot the salt! So, I have 6 loaves a bread that I must eat and cannot give away because they don't taste good. I have discovered that if I put something sweet (honey) or savory (chicken salad) on the bread you don't so much notice that it is missing an important ingredient!
Oh, well, live and learn, and then ADD SALT!!!

I've done that...never with a six-loaf batch though. Your arms must have been killing you from all the kneading!! Two loaves is my max :)
What about making French toast with it?
