Day 50 - Drifting down the river

We were able to experience another of Oregon's great beauties- the rivers. The father of the family we are staying with grew up on this river and he took us all "drifting" down it today! Jerry, our faithful skipper! And the rest of our crew- Melodee, Mary, Me, Jerry and Cherry in the back.
Brisbin, who took the picture.

We looked at the different rock layers and made up great stories about what they meant- battles between cave men and mammoths interrupted by saber tooth tigers and so on....

As we were floating down the river, we saw a "saber tooth" in the rocks, so we took out our tools to dig it up.
We each got a piece of it (there wasn't much to argue it was saber tooth as opposed to bird poop, but it makes a good story)
The sun setting on the river.

We got out to look for agots. They are stones that have been agotised, so when you hold them up to the sun, you can see through them.
Wading in the river... On our way into an alcove to walk back to the house.
On our walk back, we saw blackberry bushes growing all along the path, so we picked a few... handfuls... okay, a lot of blackberries.
