One whole year...

I cannot believe that one whole year has passed since I have been in India! Sometimes it seems as though I have been here forever and sometimes it is like I just got here.

But, none the less I leave in less than a week. As is my custom before I leave a country, I have made a list of things I will miss and things I will not miss and things I am looking forward to. I'll share a few of them with you.

Things I will miss about India:
  • Bike rides to the post office
  • Market day!
  • Buying fruits and vegies on the street
  • FULL SUN
  • Ooh-so-good Indian Food
  • Fighting with the post man to sell me stamps
  • Beautiful fabrics at unbelievable prices
  • Hena tattoos
  • Afternoon tea on the Veranda
  • Making breakfast for my parents
  • All the wonderful people I have made friends with.

Things I will NOT miss about India

  • Our Neighbor who sings all 6 verses of Holy, Holy, Holy at 5:00 in the morning.
  • People staring at me because I am white
  • Making supper in the dark
  • Eating super in the dark
  • Having the power come on during supper and saying "If I could have seen thins, I would never have served it!"
  • Turning the lights back out to finish supper
  • Bloomin' slow internet
  • Potholes (canyons) in the road
  • Trying to make American food with Indian ingredients
  • Living between the Hindu Temple and the Muslim Mosque

Things I am looking forward to in America

  • Being in the land of perpetual availability
  • Walmart $3 bin
  • Goodwill
  • Dollar store
  • Understanding people's English
  • Seeing family
  • Seeing MELODEE!!!
  • Wearing a coat and scarf and boots (and actually needing them)
  • SNOW!!!
  • Being able to walk 4 sides of a block and end up where you started.
  • Driving my car.... fast. They don't call me "Leadfoot Lee" for no reason!
