The Big Game

This Saturday night, we went to "The Big Game" in Iowa City.
The Iowa Hawkeyes were playing their first home game of the season. Angie's family had tickets, and they invited me to go with them. So, I bought a gold (NOT yellow) Iowa T-shirt and off we went! We drive to Iowa city and caught the Hawkeye Express to the stadium.

The train ride was fun, and it kept us from being backed up in too much traffic on the way home. The Stadium.
People had been tailgating since 07:00 that morning and the game started at 07:00 in the evening. Needless to say, some of them were a little... sauced.
We grabbed supper- a brat...
and a gyros.
We were lucky enough to find a spot of grass in the shade, so we sat and ate.
We went into the Stadium and it was full of gold- (not yellow) I am learning that there is a HUGE difference. One of my favorite parts was when the band comes out- They did such a good job!
... and I suppose since we are at a football game, we should talk about people who actually play football. Here they are coming out of the lockers. I think this is a big deal- everybody was screaming anyhow.
They have these flags that they parade on the field and then when our team makes a touchdown, they all go to different corners of the stadiums and each corner shouts a letter. I...O...W...A!
We shouted "I" when they waved the flag in our corner.
The Hawks beat Syracuse 27 to nothing and made 7 touchdowns- it was a fun game to watch. Now, I have been to an American Football game- wahoo!!!
