Labor day weekend, Angie and I went camping.... in the middle of a field- it was great!
We went out to Angie's grandpa's pasture land and pitched a tent and called it home for the weekend! AJ came out with us and helped set everything up and build a fire.
The next morning, we brought out the skillet and made ourselves some breakfast...
Scrambled eggs, bacon and toast.
Before we went camping, I ran a little too far and a little too hard and inflicted upon myself a stress fracture, in the leg. So, I was assigned to watch the fire die with my leg up while Angie did all the work.
After breakfast clean up, we went fishing...

I was so excited because I got a big bite and I just knew it was a huge fish.... and it was a huge clump of moss!
We took the boat out on the pond
Which we got there on the truck....

I don't think it gets any more down home country than this, does it?
I was frustrated by my moss experience, so I just read while Angie and her mom fished.
Me telling Angie that she has to listen and wait until the end of the story to find out what happens.
The next morning, I wanted to try out my Nepali oven. This is an oven that you put over an open fire and bakes whatever you put in it. I decided on Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls. This is what they looked like before they were baked.
And this is how you "bake" them
My favorite Iowan farmer, Angie's grandpa, came out to check on us.
We talked for a while and then ate our breakfast- cinnamon rolls baked over an open fire.
... with frosting- tadaa!

It was a great weekend!
