Mushroom Hunting

In Iowa, hunting for mushrooms is an annual event. Every spring, the woods are searched by mushroom hunters. Ruthie and I are spending a few weeks up with some family friends. Over memorial day, we decided to go find some mushrooms. We are looking for a small, "Christmas tree" shaped mushroom. They grow in the side of hills by the roots of trees and are found in clusters. So.... off we went! A mushroom!

Back at the ranch... we soak them in water, cut them up and fry them! ooh so good! Talk about fresh- to eat something that was growing in the wild 30 minutes before!
