Last night, we were hit by a storm. We had thunder, constant lightning, heavy rain and hail. We were in an overnight spot and our camper top leaked - dripped - soaked our bedding and everything we had, including the load of clothes that we washed but were unable to dry. We couldn't get out to do anything about it because of the lightning, so there we sat trying to sleep, soaked and miserable. Morning came and we decided to get out of Missouri. We asked at the welcome center where we could get our camper top fixed. As it turns out, there was a place that fixes RVs quite close. So, we asked if they could fix it and they did- for free!
We stopped at this little post office to mail off some letters- it is the only one with a carport.
We saw a little turtle trying to cross the road, so Melodee got out and helped the little guy across.
We went to a truck stop and laid out everything we had on the hot cement. We dried and aired everything out- what a great feeling! We put our clothes in the drier, reorganized our stuff, and used their Internet.
This is the stone house that we were parked next to and kept wondering about. Before we left, but went to check it out. It was built in 1863 and is the cornerstone for a developing historical sight.
We went on our way and Melodee found yet another little turtle to help across the road.
