Let it snow . . . let it Snow . . . let it SNOW!

Iowa has officially been slammed with winter!

I opened my windows and found a wonderful white world outside under a clear blue sky. We got several inches of snow this week and my puppy was introduced to a world of snow. When we went out for our walk, he stopped dead in his tracks. The place where mere hours ago was green-brown grass was now a blanket of snow. He looked at me as if to say, "Where did the grass go?" Then, he decided to test it out and was shocked by the fact that it was cold. All the hair on his back stood up and he was ready to attack . . . the snow. He then licked it and was further dismayed that it was still cold! But, after the rather abrupt introduction, he decided he loved it and spent the next hour and a half running around and playing in it!

This morning, we still had our snow and added to it was a thin sheet of ice. This made for a different experience. He quite happily walked out onto the snow, only to stop and suddenly sink 3 inches as the ice gave way. He gave me a terrified look, as though he had stepped on a booby trap. He then jumped around and decided this kind of snow was just as great!
