Day 30 - Arches National Park

This morning it was off to Arches National Park.

The three gossips.
Sheep rock.
These are smooth rocks that look like sand.
Balancing rock.

Skeeter in the back of the truck- it was hot that day!

Elephant rock.

You can't really have a true Utah experience unless you are witnessed to by Mormons- so here goes! This is a fort built in 1864 by the order of Joseph Smith. They have since restored it and use it as a tour/witness spot- but very cool none the less.
In its day, it was one of the main stops on the way west. Every day, dozens of people came to spend the night, get a meal, send and receive mail and see what was happening. They have mail delivered twice a week (most only had once every 2 months.) It had a telegraph office and was one of the main points of communication during that time. This was the stove where 14 loaves of bread were baked every morning.
The dining room. Weaving rugs...
The laundry / wash room.
Boys room.
Boy's table with domino's made of bone.
The garden.
Typical dress of the day. The kind Mormon man who showed us around.
Riding in the covered wagon.
Hired men's bunk house.
The blacksmith shop- here I am "fanning the flame"
Playing with horse locks.
